This lactose-free smoothie recipe makes the perfect purple pick-me-up. The banana adds a creamy texture and a subtle sweetness that pairs beautifully with a berry boost. You’ll even get extra protein from our delicious LACTAID® Lactose-Free Protein Milk and a serving of greens from a handful of baby spinach.

Yields/Serves:

Ingredients: 

½ cup blackberries, frozen

½ cup raspberries, frozen

1 very ripe banana, frozen

1 cup loosely packed, fresh baby spinach

Prepare Frozen Berries:

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set Aside.
  2. Place blackberries and raspberries in a colander and dip them in a bowl of cold water.
  3. Gently swish the colander in the water, then allow the berries to drain.
  4. Spread the berries in a single layer on paper towels. Gently pat the berries dry with another paper towel.
  5. Arrange the berries on the baking sheet and freeze until solid.

Prepare Frozen Banana:

  1. Peel the banana and slice into rounds.
  2. Arrange the banana rounds on the baking sheet and freeze until solid or up to a couple of days.

Smoothie Packs:

  1. Transfer the frozen berries, banana and baby spinach to freezer bags and store flat in the freezer until ready to use.

Smoothie:

  1. Add frozen blackberries, raspberries and banana to a blender. Add LACTAID® Lactose-Free 2% Reduced Fat High Protein Milk and blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
