Good but a pain to use

Review Questions:
State: New Mexico
Age: Over 65
Review Text:
Lactaid "Fast Act," like its predecessor, Lactaid "Ultra," is the only kind anyone with digestive problems should use. Regular or "Original" Lactaid is bound with Mannitol, which is a laxative. As a result, anyone who's got to take more than one or two should NOT use this product. Unfortunately, only the "Original" Lactaid comes in a bottle of pills. Lactaid "Fast Act" comes only in a paper-foil sheet, with each pill individually wrapped, which makes using any substantial number of pills a huge pain in the neck. As a result, your choices are take a product that may make you sick, or waste your time tearing the packaging for each pill.

Good but....

When I finally figured out that my body had stopped producing lactase, I got your original product because the other products are just too expensive. However, after trying several times with one or even two pills while consuming dairy, I found it ineffective in preventing diarrhea from the lactose. I also tried the Walgreens brand and had the same result, so I tried your fast-acting and had the same problem. It was only after I started combining Lactaid with Schiff Digestive Advantage that I was actually able to avoid diarrhea, and now I don't need to take Schiff DA (I guess it added something to my gut?) but I usually have to take 2-4 Lactaid pills to prevent diarrhea since there is no way to gauge how much lactose I'm consuming and your directions are no help in trying to determine how many pills to take for various forms of dairy products. Your milk is pretty safe unless I consume a lot of it at one time, but the price is quite high. I don't have much choice though, since I'm also sensitive to the annoying additives in milk substitutes, such as guar gum, xanthan gum, and carrageenan, and I'm mildly sensitive to gluten, too. :(

Please do not take this product. I have taken it twice and within hours have had severe vomiting to the point of dry heaving. I know I am just one of many that have had this happen after some research. Beware!

What is the Lactase derived from? From Corn, Aspergillus Niger or something else? Please put this on your label the origin of the Lactase enzyme so we can be educated consumers. This is expecially important for consumers who may avoid Corn OR are sensItive to the Aspergillus Niger mold.

Hi - The Lactase Enzyme in our Lactaid Supplement Fast Act Caplets comes from a natural fungal source called Aspergillus Oryzae. This breaks down the lactose sugar which is naturally found in any dairy products or food containing milk derivatives. Thank you for your feedback and we'll be sure to share it with our team.
