Sunrise Smoothie

Ingredients

1 scoop vanilla plant-based protein powder

1 cup LACTAID® 2% Reduced Fat Protein Milk

1 medium orange

1 small, peeled banana (frozen is recommended for a colder, creamier texture)

½-1 inch knob fresh ginger, peeled (adjust to your preferred level of spice/zing)

½ cup ice

Other Tools: Blender, 24-ounce smoothie cup/glass

Directions

  1. Cut 1 section of the unpeeled orange and save for garnish. Peel the remainder and separate into sections.

  2. Peel the ginger and roughly chop it. Start with a smaller amount (like ½ inch) if you are unsure of the strength of your ginger or prefer a milder flavor and add more if desired.

  3. Add the LACTAID® 2% Reduced Fat Protein Milk and vanilla plant-based protein powder to your blender first. This helps prevent the powder from sticking to the bottom.

  4. Next, add the peeled orange sections, banana (frozen or fresh), and chopped ginger. Add ice.

  5. Secure the lid and blend on high until the mixture is completely smooth. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides or add a tiny splash of more milk if the mixture is too thick.

  6. Taste the smoothie. If you want more ginger kick, add a small piece and blend again. If it's too thick, add a bit more milk.

  7. Pour into a 16-ounce glass with an orange slice (optional) and enjoy immediately!
